Clearer Vision

Filed under: Confessions of a Preacher's Wife   ::   Monday, June 8, 2009

I’m feeling a little down today. Tired. Dirty contacts messing with my vision. Girls gone to camp. Feeling alone…

Too much to do. Too much strain in my faith (that God would use me). My turn to whine.

Girlfriend calls. Wants me to fix lasagna for the fellowship tomorrow night. I want to stay home in pj’s.

Writing? How can I do that when I need to call every women’s ministry contact in God’s creation on behalf of Capture ME! ~ iGETitLIFE 2009 Women’s Event. At least I’m not laid up in the hospital with a spinal leak like the iGETitLIFE coordinator. She just had a baby and the epidural caused spinal fluid leakage (pray for Jamie). And I want to whine!

(sigh)
Look. It’s like this. I obey God and still I have troubles.

I’m trying to not be despondent. I know God’s in control. I’m doing what he asked, but I just don’t see his hand at this time. My faith doesn’t require sight, but my sense of security sure likes it.

"If you will…firmly exhibit your faith at the precise moment, you can sometimes actually snatch victory from the very jaws of defeat… lifting your heart to God in a moment of genuine faith in Him can quickly alter your circumstances…He can turn defeat into victory in a split second, if we will only trust Him." ~Streams in the Desert

Going to cleanse my contacts for Firmer Faith and Clearer Vision.

  1. Mike Jeter notes:

I am reminded of Jesus telling His disciples to go to the otherside of the lake. His words were “let’s go to the other side”. When the storm hit, He was asleep and they took His silence (sleep) as lack or concern. Sometimes silence can give us the greatest assurance. If God is not in a panic, then I sould not be either. As a child I would hear a noise and when I got to my mom and dad’s room I would find them asleep. That gave me great comfort.
Alaine and I will be moving to Houston July 6 to pastor Sharpstown Baptist Church. It is a multicultral church. Alaine does not have a job yet but everything else has come together. Thanks for your writings.

    Hi Mike!

What a good reminder of why I shouldn’t panic when God isn’t panicking.

This news about your move is awesome. You guys can stop by on your way through. Maybe Alaine can come to our women’s event in September. I would love the chance to visit with her.

  3. Jamie Miles notes:

Okay. That’s me your describing. Thanks for the reminder that tiredness and discouragement are universal human conditions. Yuck! Feel a liitle less the wayward disciple. God is in control and I need Him fight those battles. And trust that silence doesn’t equal inactivity. :)

  4. Vonda Skelton notes:

I’m right there with you, sister! Ministry ain’t for wimps, is it?

Or maybe it IS for wimps who know where their strength comes from.

Let’s you and me agree to go from whining to winning through worship of the One gives us strength!

Please Leave a note.
